Within an hour of the nominations being open, we received our first nomination… We are thrilled!

The National Diversity Awards is a prestigious black tie event, which celebrates the excellent achievements of grass- root communities that tackle the issues in today’s society, giving them recognition for their dedication and hard work.

Charities, role models and community heroes will be honoured at the ceremony showcasing their outstanding devotion to enhancing equality, diversity and inclusion; thus embracing the excellence of all our citizens irrespective of race, faith, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability and culture.

We were delighted, that for the third year running we have received nominations for these admirable awards.

Chrissa Wadlow, our founder, fought to the High Court to gain what her daughter needed within her education, health and care.

Not wanting this traumatising experience to have been in vain, Chrissa founded Sunshine Support to provide accessible, affordable and impartial advice to parents and professionals who support children and young people with Special Educational Needs.

We’re absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for the third consecutive year!  We know that in order to be shortlisted the competition is fierce – there are so many inspirational organisations making significant progress on their mission for equity and justice. We are honoured to be the ones putting SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) on the map, and whilst we don’t do what we do for awards; it’s a heart-warming way for our amazing team to be recognised for their incredible work” states Chrissa.

What categories are available for nomination within the NDAs?

There are several areas in which you can nominate people or organisations for their dedication to diversity. They include…

Who are we? What have we achieved so far?

Founded in October 2017 in Derbyshire but with consultants now all over England and Wales, we are now the fastest growing independent SEND organisation in the UK. We access top independent experts for workshops, specialist advice, guidance and assessment and in March 2020 we converted our entire support packages to an online platform, we are completely COVID safe and more accessible than ever.

We’ve personally consulted with over 10,000 families to help and support them, and have welcomed over 11,000 parents and professionals into over 200 workshops, both online and in-person; as well as hosting over 100 free social events to support parents, carers and teachers.

We’ve referred over 9,000 parents to experts or solicitors who have helped them within 48 hours.

Over 12,000 hours of voluntary support has been provided by our team since 2017 along with thousands of pounds of pro bono work that has been undertaken and a community fund that helps to finance independent expert reports (such as occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and educational psychology reports), which compliments our privately funded services.

Every single staff member at Sunshine Support has the all-important lived experience. Click here to meet our team.

We are honoured and privileged to support such inspirational families, long may it continue!
