EHC Needs Assessment Requests

Did you know that parents can make a request for an EHCP?

That’s right, EHC needs assessment requests do NOT have to come from a professional. A parent can make that request.

Click below for the Sunshine Support template letter as a guideline for your EHCP application. Parents who have used this template have not had to then complete a long-winded EHCP application given to them by the local authority – so we think it works well, as long as you provide enough information and evidence to back up your reasons for making the application.

Of course, the letter comes with no guarantees and it is purely a guideline. But so far, has a great success rate. You may need some extra help with this which is where our SEND Advice team comes in.

We highly recommend you speak to them to gain some guidance on this, as the process can be confusing and frustrating.

Request a phone call by clicking here and completing the contact form at the bottom of the page.

Choosing a Provision

Did you know that you can visit provisions before choosing which is right for your child?

We also highly recommend you visit all provisions that are likely to be named by your local authority. It is a very good idea to know all the options available to you. Parental preference has to be considered, but it is essential you know all the reasons why your preference is the most suitable.

We have created a checklist for you to print off for EVERY provision you visit. All schools should allow you to visit whilst the school is open, so you can see it in operation.

If you’d like assistance with visiting schools please contact our SEND team who would be happy to accompany you by clicking here and completing the contact form at the bottom of the page.
