Some exciting news from Team Sunshine Support!
After spending decades teaching the children of Derby city, Chellaston headteacher Lindsay Galley has taken a bold step out of educating children to join award-winning Sunshine Support, a Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Consultancy.
Founded by the esteemed Chrissa Wadlow, Sunshine Support provides invaluable advice and support both nationally and globally. The team boasts specialists from the education and legal industries, and Lindsay’s impressive 26 years of teaching and leadership experience will bring even more strength to the outstanding work the organisation undertakes for children and young people with special educational needs.
Joining the team after spending the last decade as a headteacher at Chellaston Infants Lindsay is highly regarded for supporting fellow educators across the city, she said “I aim to broaden the reach of the training and support that Sunshine offers so that educational settings, SENCOs and families can benefit from this valuable resource. I firmly believe that education can be inclusive, high-quality, and adapted for the success of all learners. As a recent school leader and a SEND parent myself, I have a deep understanding of the strengths and challenges within the education system. I am confident that by working together we can achieve remarkable outcomes. I am thrilled to join Sunshine Support and to advocate for the needs of all learners, helping them to thrive.”
In her new role at Sunshine Support, Lindsay will support parents and carers as an advocate, while also launching a brand new SENCo network for SEND Co-Ordinators throughout Derbyshire and neighbouring areas. This initiative aims to provide vital support through advice clinics, training, and unwavering assistance during a time when educators face immense pressure to meet the needs of children with SEND with limited funds and resources. This network is poised to be a lifeline for teachers and SENCos in the East Midlands region and beyond, with support accessible online.
Kelly Jarvis, head of Advocacy and Consultancy at Sunshine Support, expressed her enthusiasm about Lindsay’s addition to the team.
“At Sunshine Support, we are always looking for new ways to enhance our offer to our most vulnerable children and their families. Lindsay’s vast experience will not only benefit families through advocacy, but most excitingly, will offer a fresh, new approach to bespoke SEND support to local schools. Based at our beautiful learning hub in the heart of Derby, Lindsay will be making contact with SENCOs locally to explain the many ways in which they can benefit from Sunshine Support’s services. We are so excited to welcome Lindsay to our ever-growing team here at Sunshine Support.”
Schools and parents interested in the support that Lindsay and Sunshine Support offer are encouraged to email enquiries@sunshine-support.org.uk. The team is eager to discuss how they can meet your needs and provide the best possible support.
